Glorious weather, nine stunning stallions and a crowd of over 200 people set the scene for a highly successful Open Day at Llowlaong Farms on Fathers Day, Sunday 4th September 2022. The day commenced, fittingly, with the evergreen and world champion sire American Ideal . Although now a 20-year-old he handles the shuttling duty between New York State and Australia superbly and looks set for another very successful season.
The Canadian import Century Farroh certainly impressed everyone with his handsome good looks and we took seven bookings to him on the day, making him the most popular stallion with breeders who were present. Raging Bull, the powerful and athletic-looking son of Christian Cullen was another to create great interest and the exchange between the MC Dan Mielecki and Bull’s owner Hal David about his name and how he was acquired was an intriguing story.
There was a nice mixture of the nine stallions with five being bred in North America and four being bred either in Australia or New Zealand. Of course any Victorian breeder who breeds a foal by of those four Down Under-bred stallions will be eligible to receive the $12,000 Vicbred Pure First Win Bonus when the resulting foal wins its first race as a two- or three-year-old.
