ABOUT YANKEE ROCKSTAR
Eleven-year-old Yankee Rockstar has arrived back at Llowalong Farms in Kyabram, now in the ownership of Dr Kath & Luke McIntosh, guaranteeing him a permantent home in the north. He joins his dam, the American-bred mare Aston Villa, as well as his younger half-brother Poster Boy (also available at stud) and half-sister Yankee Showgirl at Llowalong. Yankee Rockstar is the first-born colt of the award-winning Artsplace broodmare Aston Villa and sired by the proven sire of sires, Rocknroll Hanover giving him the same cross as Rock N Roll Heaven and King Of Swing.
Yankee Rockstar gave notice from day one of his racing career of his exciting ability. His first seven starts as a two-year-old and early three-year-old resulted in a picket fence of seven victories: in each of them he blazed a last quarter in 27 with change. His first defeat came at the hands of the Australian 3YO Pacer of the Year in Bling It On, when narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Chokin 3YO Championship at Tabcorp Park Menangle - his personal time clocked at 1:52.5. Yankee Rockstar closed out his racing career in a heat of the 2016 Inter Dominions at Gloucester Park with a resume of 35 starts for 22 wins, seven placings and $329,048 in the bank. Along the way, he defeated horses the calibre of Yayas Hot Spot (1:50.9, $706,328), Major Crocker (1:49.4, $980,287), Hectorjayjay (1:50.5, $1,161,610), Ohoka Punter (1:52.4, $1,177,323) and Messini (1:54.2, $711,711).
Yankee Rockstar was retired to stud after the 2017 breeding season had begun and so only bred a small number of mares. To date (June 2024), he has had 24 starters for 14 winners including Rock Artist ($82,000), Nothingbutwaves ($47,000) and Chermear Princess ($31,000). The progeny of Yankee Rockstar are strong and a good size, and are impressing breeders and trainers with their kind temperaments.
Yankee Rockstar's unique breeding makes him a brilliant option for so many crosses in Australia. If you're keen to find out more, or work through your mare's pedigree with an expert, contact Llowalong Farms today.
