ABOUT KING OF THE NORTH
The millionaire world champion son of Walner - KING OF THE NORTH - returning for his second season in Australasia at Llowalong Farms, providing both fresh or chilled semen. This outstanding trotting sire gives southern hemisphere breeders a unique opportunity to upgrade square gaiting genetics as well as bringing an unmatched race record and overall type. All the majors are there - the Wellwood Memorial, Haughton Memorial, NJ Sires Stakes, the Erskine, and of course, the Breeders Crown in a sweep of the elimination and the final in which he recorded TR1:50.3 - the fastest ever 3YO Breeders Crown time for trotters, the fastest ever Canadian mile trotted by a colt, and a Woodbine Mohawk Park track record.
"This stallion is a real superstar and will be a breed changer down under," said studmaster Dr McIntosh, who flew to North America to see the stallion in the flesh before sealing the deal with his owners. "2023 showed his excellent fertility across both NZ and Australia, where he bred 151 mares. He is a handsome and powerful stallion with a wonderful temperament and we are excited for breeders to have access to these Chapter Seven – Walner bloodlines."
KING OF THE NORTH brings the opportunity for breeders to branch into the high-demand North American line of Walner, a superstar in his own right and also a Dan Patch Two Year Old Trotting Colt of the Year. Last year's draft of Walner yearlings brought an average of $121,720 in the ring, showing the faith owners and trainers have in his ability to throw a champion. We think his son will do just the same - and not just because of his sire.
Dam Check Me Out (Donato Hanover) was a world champion, earning $1.9m herself with a PB of TR1:51.2 and her own Dan Patch Trotting Filly of the Year title - as well as the O'Brien title - as both a two- and three-year-old. Of her six foals to date, four have been winners and is the granddam of Instagram Model, the third-fastest juvenile trotting filly last season in North America.
If you're keen to find out more, or work through your mare's pedigree with an expert, contact Llowalong Farms but don't hesitate, his book in North America filled quickly and we're confident he will reach the stallion book limit in Australia in no time at all.
